メルセデス AMG の C63S（W205） は、もとよりメーカーが十分な空力を計算しながら完成されたボディ形状にございます。空力パーツを装着することによって、このバランスを変えることについては賛否両論あろうかと思いますが、より強いダウンフォースを得るのであれば、大きいウィングは欠かせないものと言えましょう。しかし純正では、車種別にスポイラーが用意されているだけで、ウイングは存在しません。

これを解決する方法のひとつが、日本の SARD 社が製造なさっている GT WING です。このウィング、C63S カブリオレや、C63S クーペに調和したデザインなのですけれども、実は SARD さんが汎用品として製造なさっているお品で、専用品ではありません。そうとは思えないデザインが本当に素晴らしいと思います。ただ装着にあたっては、トランクに穴を開ける必要があります。その点はご容赦ください。

いわゆる GT ウィングよりも控えめな形状ではありますけれども、装着したときの効果は確実にあります。とくに時速 60 km を超えたあたりからのリアの落ち着きは明らかで、ふわふわと逃げるような挙動をしていた C63S が、ピタッと定まって真っ直ぐ走行するようになります。また GT ウィングの角度を変更することによって、効き具合を変えることもできますので試行錯誤の余地があります。

この製品を装着するうえで、覚悟を固めなければいけないのは、先述のとおりトランクに穴を開けなければいけないこと。それと少しだけ、ルームミラーからの視界が悪くなってしまうこと。この２つを我慢できるのであれば、素晴らしいデザインですし、明らかな変化を体感することができます。あ、もうひとつありました。発注してから届くまでに、数ヶ月を要するのです。これはひたすら辛抱です。
